103 diaster
Get the bike on a dyno and see what is going on,a lot of things affect the way a motor performs.Fuel, and timing, are the two primary reasons for poor performance.I do know a couple of guys with the 103" upgrade who are always complaining of spark knock.
I had the same problem with my 103" stage II, however they wouldn't let me leave the dealer with it, and I wouldn't have wanted to. They looked at the cams again and the cams were installed wrong which were causing the problems i was having when we were trying to tune it. I would make sure they check the installation of the cams and spend the money on a proper tuner.

I can't believe this is the problem. Keep in mind he started with a stock setup, stock tune, etc.--and after installing the Stage II with the download he reported a decrease in performance, and even with the DL he should realize much better performance from that setup. It isn't going to be optimal with the DL, but certainly better.
I also don't think it is the pipes, unless they are defective in some way or a rat family built a nest in the mufflers. OTOH I agree with you on the other points you made, that he needs a tuner on the bike and either a competent canned map installed or a dyno-tune.

Hey tooth, I just noticed you live in Rossburg Ohio, If you don't mind a little riding, Roeder's Racing is located in Monroeville Ohio, about 3 hours or so from you. There has been a few people here that have had them tune there bikes. VTWINBMX is one of them, they have been doing it for years, and thier tuner, Scott (Super) is as good as they come. You might want to give them a shout 419-465-2247. Tell George, Scott or Bob what your issues are and see what they suggest.
Before anyone complains about me soliciting business, I DO NOT work for Roeders, just good friends with them. Since I lost my access to they dyno I do my tuning thier with them.
