'07 Idle Issues
I have fought this problem for over 3 years now with only the low idle & stall problem. Cleaning the IAC has resolved the issue temporarily each time. After some 'spirited' riding in the Ozarks last week, I now have the high idle along with the low idle & stall. Cleaning did not resolve this time. Replaced the TPS & still have low idle & stall. I am now going to replace the IAC. Here are my questions/concerns:
I am planning the to do the tank lift method. Is it necessary to disconnect the throttle & cruise cables to free the IAC from the bracket? If so, is there enough room to do so?
I have the SE High Flow intake. Is it necessary or helpful to remove the backing plate?
Did you have any problems with the factory screws stripping or breaking off due to being too tight (or too much Loctite)?
I guess I'm getting paranoid thinking about all that could go wrong here...thanks for your input & help.
I noticed some people asking about the factory ECM, in my opinion it has nothing to do with the ECM, since I do not have a factory ecm and have had the same problem. It appeared that the issue was a stick IAC, but after replacing it. The problem on a long trip came back. I cleaned the hell out of the ports and did the relearn procedure......worked coming back from a 250 mile trip until I got home. Acted up and never did it again.
My issue is I'm going back to Sturgis after 4 yrs and the wife is going for the first time. So I hate to have an issue. I still believe it's an issue with the IAC and I have heard there are some aftermarket ones.....maybe a bad run from HD not sure. So far I'm good....but do not trust the bike at all
I'm going to read through the post and see what I can come up with
I have an '07 Heritage and I've dealt with the low-idle stalling for about two years. I always thought it was a consequence of poor quality gas as it happened seldomly. However, my bike will not maintain idle when returning from higher RPM's at all now.
I have a copy of TT410 and have already replaced the ICM and the TPS. I would like to flash the ECM myself, but I have no idea where to start. I know I am going to need some sort of software/tuner, but have no idea if flashing an ECM is even possible with an aftermarket tuner. Also, TT410 mentions adjusting the voltage from the TPS. Is this do-able from a tuner.
I've called two dealerships and just don't want to take it in to them. I'd rather spend the money on hardware and software I can keep and fix this myself.
In short,
Can I flash my bike with the latest ECM calibration from my garage? If so, what do I need to do it?
Can I adjust the TP voltage from my garage? If so, what do I need to do it?
Thanks in advance,
Mast
Once again I do not believe it's an ECM issue, because I have a Zippers system.....that rules out the Factory ECM .....so I wouldn't waste your money or time. I do notice oil getting into the air cleaner and it may have been over oiled...not sure if that is messing up the IAC with sludging?
The sad issue is only a car manufacture.....Harley has an issue like the 5th gear noise and is not addressing it. maybe we all need to complain to the NTSB and enough complaints and they might get on HD's azz

I'm taking it in for a dyno tune next week (sert) and I think I will have them change the IAC motor and the tps and also do a fuel pressure test so all the bases will be covered.
In my opinion I don't think this issue is limited to '07.
