Wink I did it too

This post got me thinkin and as luck would have it, I fell into this awesome set up. My buddy in Tucson has a fatboy that he wanted help installing the Legend air suspension. I came down and we worked for about 7 hours getting new parts and wrestling the old system and what not. Anyway, we finished up and he had the control mount he didn't use and an extra compressor. I asked him what he wanted to do with it and he said take it. Well, naturally I'm gonna throw some cash to him but the bottom line is, I have the control mount and compressor. Well, I zip over to Amazon and order the Monroe 785' and I installed all this on my 05 Ultra Classic. Wow! This thing is sweet and on the control mount is the Air Pressure guage, compressor switch and dump switch all right by my right thigh. I mounted the compressor in the trunk and I can assure you this system is the real deal. I can adjust ride height and comfort level at a moments notice.

I have about $110 into this fully kick *** system. Had I not read the 230 post prior I might not have installed this set up. You fellas really helped me out. See you on the road.

More happy installers. Don't see why anyone wouldn't try this set up and save $$$. I put another 100 miles on the bike yesterday. Funniest thing I had a guy at the dealership ask me if it was a air controlled kickstand HAHAHAHAHAHA

I just want to be clear? Your running just the Gabriel shocks without the compressor ? I ride 100% solo so I'm the only one who matters when it comes to the ride quality.

With the extreme mod seat from MeanCity Cycles and these shocks I feel like I'm sitting on the ground.

Since I ride solo about 98% of the time I may not even go to the trouble to put a compressor on mine. May put the compressor on later. I ride it low anyway. I basically just replaced the factory setup and lowering blocks I was using to the new Gabriel setup. I like the way it sits.

Would love to come down for a ride but we are having people over Sat night and I'm sure I will be a little slow on Sunday. I should say a little SLOWER. I'll be down this spring for sure. My remote is on hold. Got back into the black out stage.

Ditto on the company. I got 12-22oz ribeyes marinating right now! Kickstands up at 11 on sunday so I should be coherent by then. On your remote be sure its a momentary switch. Turns out mine isnt! It was supposed to be but its not. I wanted it to turn off as soon as you let go of the button. I should have checked it before I installed it. Learn from my mistake! Be careful tomorrow nite, LEOs will be lurking in the shadows. They wont understand that your from Delewhere!

That is correct. I am running just the shocks, no compressor. I ran the air lines just like they did with the Harley factory shocks. I mounted the Schrader fitting in the factory bracket behind the left side bag. I boxed all of the original stuff up in case I need it later.

I also found the bushings at Lowes in those pull out specialty drawers. They were about a $2.35 each, part number Hillman 136452 (1/2 x 5/8 x 1.5). The Gabriel shocks did not come with any bushings in the bottom hole. Bushings from Lowes slid right in. I had to press the top ones out and press the new ones in. The top ones had to be trimmed slightly. I trimmed them after installing them in the shocks. I have pics of how I installed the upper bushings if someone needs them. It went smooth.

I may put a compressor on it later but since I am the only one riding it, I'm probably done. I can put air in if I decide to ride someone else.

Excellent point on trying this mod. If you think about it, the shocks are as cheap as a set of those lowering blocks. I used the lowering blocks until I installed these shocks. Now I can lift bike when needed and the shocks don't rub the back of my bags.

Ok, now you started something. Where can I get one of those air controlled kickstands? LOL
