I got great advice if ya got a new bike with new engine...leave the cams alone.. do a stage one...but stop there....anytime you crack open a new engine...ur asking for issues later...trust me on this! The 103 with stage one will be killer ride..
I'm not saying this isn't good advice, but I think that is a pretty broad statement! It may be what happened to you, but that doesn't mean it will happen every time.
It appears that the 254E, TW-6/555, and Andrews 54H are trying to achieve the same goal and work great in the stock 103". The 2011 103 responded better with more lift and duration and open intake and exhaust than my 2009 96" did. Could be the cubes or the lack of catalyst, or the higher C/R on the 103". Power is smooth and linear with no ping and runs much cooler, especially at 35* and a 250 mile ride.

Maybe, ...maybe not, but I've got a 7-year warranty. Every engine mod has been done with S/E parts by an HD dealer. I'm not too worried.
Had the 254Es installed in my 2011 Limited yesterday. Can't test it yet because a part hasn't arrived yet for the rest of the build (Upper brake line for the extended bars). I hope to have the bike on the Dyno early next week and under my *** shortly after that.
Dealer's parts specialist and the top tech both recommended the 254E over the 255 for my bike. I trust these guys - they know more about bikes than I do, that's for sure.
Details are:
2011 Ultra Limited
Factory 103ci
S/E Hi Flow
S/E Fatshots
S/E Street Performance Tuner
S/E 254E Cams
Ya, I know, its very "S/E", but its also warranty friendly.
Originally had the FuelPak installed when I got the bike in August, but there is no map available for my setup with the 254Es so my dealer took it back and gave me full credit for the price against the SE tuner.
I will post the numbers when I get them. Can't friggin' wait. Its been a long and cold winter.
The "Before" numbers (with the stock cams) were 64.9hp and 75.5tq.
The "After" numbers (with the 254E cams) were 75hp and 85.5tq.
It made almost 80tq at 2500rpm. It only made 60tq at 2500 rpm without the cams. That means that there was an increase in torque at typical "roll-on" rpm (2500) of over 30%.
I'm happy with that. When you consider that there is nothing really aggressive in my build (haven't touched pipes, cat or heads), I think they are decent numbers and a really good increase with the 254E cams.

Interesting.. Thanks for sharing your dyno numbers!

Reason: miss read post
ordered my 103 performance upgrade kit yesterday and can't wait to feel the results. Ran in to one issue in that the 254 cams are backordered. Adding V&H power duals with SE pro performance mufflers and a ventilator breather. Appreciate reading all the different post on this subject as it help me make up my mind.
from what i understand the harley cams with the "E" after the numbers means they were designed with the new fuel injection system in mind. the 259-E's i have in mine work great but they're made for a specific compression ratio. the 254-E's might be just right. take a look for the recommendations in the screamin eagle catalog suppliment for compatibility.
I have the 259E cams in my 2007 ultra classic with the 107 bore and stage 4 head work and 10.8 compression..also true duels and pc 5 auto tuner for almost 2 years now..the bike runs really cool on hot days and a real stump puller,,,really happy with the 259 cams and really u need the bump in compression to wake these cams up,,pulls constant from 2500 to 6500rpm..
