"For Harley Sportster XL 2004 - 2017. For models listed with forward controls"
You may want to edit your post and put in which specific bike this is for and also put that in the appropriate forum. This is the touring folder, folks here do not ride Sportsters.

My bad. Edit button has been taken away or I'd address it.
Did this a week back....but it took 4-5 hardware store trips unfortunately. One store didn't have enough of the bolt lengths I needed or the jam nuts....then 2 trips for spacers, used 1/8", then ran back and replaced with 1/4". Then had to adjust the heel/toe shift levers as the heim joints were kinda long on the shift linkage....wasn't a 10 min job thats for sure!
In all these threads nowhere have I seen a suggestion to tighten the inner shifter shaft allen bolt. Maybe its in a thread I missed on 'Heim' joints....I read most of them here. Or maybe it's something folks routinely check anyway. Easy to get in there w/ the shift linkage off the bike.
Also an ideal time to clean and lubricate ones outer shifter shaft that the toe/heel levers attach to.
F150hd, there's also the option of installing the Better Lever on that shaft. Ungodly expensive but it will solve the problem of sloppy fit for all time!
There are tons of shift linkages on ebay. Over 2 years ago I bought a $25 unit with heim joints, polished Harley logo. Still works just fine. No need to buy joints and build your own unless that's what you're into.
