Goodby and lots of luck.
Luck has nothing to do with it. Let's recap a little about the past decade:

In 2003 Harley went from a hot forged crank with a Timken Lefty Bearing supporting it to a cold forged crank without the bearing, ( BUT! they will sell the bearing to you for bunches of extra dollars "for those desiring extra durability" (???) ) 2011 P&A Book

Then in 2007 they took another step down to the basement and gave you a CAST crankshaft with a blanched compensator mount and the compensators started coming apart to the point that S/E comps are now standard on 2012. ( Guess they had to..)

In 2008 they introduced the 25 mm axle with the single row ball bearing'd wheel bearing. My double row bearings ( '00 to'07,) were replaced at 97,000 miles just for good measure. The single row 'upgrade' now blow out long before that milage...Search it right here on the forum if you wish.

And they "gave" you compression releases this year!...not because you've got a big bad motor, but because without them you'd be tearing up starters and ring gears. Search Clink Clank GRIND ( Again, guess they had to..)

And then there's that wonderful customer service...

Harley appreciates your loyalty lh4x4, and Polaris appreciates Harley building a crappy motorcycle nowadays.

I'll run my '00 Road Glide for years to come. It's still a great motorcycle. Shame Harley doesn't build one anymore.

And someday I'll look at Polaris for my next bike. And it's not a metric.

I'll never buy a new Harley with what they're selling now. And apparently more and more people are seeing the light.

Most companies when they find out there is a problem will contact the manufacture of the part and make them fix it, maybe Harley has already done that, but that does not mean they are willing to fix what has already been put out on the street. I think his dealer must be fairly honest, I'm surprised he was not told this is normal, now get out of my shop.
I don't think many of you guys read what the OP said....

Ya know I detest the idea of lawsuits until and unless they're really necessary and appropriate, but this may be headed that way. In the meantime, given what the dealer told you about the rep ("I've denied three for the same reason this week") I'm pretty sure in your place I'd be contacting someone at HD about that. You may not be able to prove it, but if that's what the dealer told you, you have every right to be ripped at this point. Find someone that will listen to you, and let them know you ain't going away! And best of luck with this.

sweetglide..i feel your frustration. when i had my 09 street glide i went through a similar problem with rear fenders. under certin conditions if i would go a hard wot through the first few gears the rear fender would dend and tear the sheet metal at the seat bolt even cracking the clear coat. i took it in pointed out that it had cracked and dented and riped. i picked the bike up and noticed they had taped the dent out and put a new seat nut into the fender.. they didnt fix the paint. i explained to them that is not acceptable 20k bike 3 mo old i wouldnt except cracked clear coat and torn sheet metal.

they then proceded to tell me that was the fix harley told them they had to do. i told them tell harley to shove it up the rear they were going to fix it correctly. long story short after a battle..and ME Calling the 800 number they replaced the fender! i didnt say it had to be replaced just fixed.

wouldnt you know it 150 miles later and me romping it going home i made it do it again..they fixed the fender but not the problem.called the dealer and they said they would get ahold of warr. they replaced the fender again after some battle. mind you to get a painted part i was waiting around 6wks for them to come in. finally that now 3rd fender to the bike came in and it did it again...i delt with a punk old rep too that i quote told me "it is just a little cracking and a tiny tear it will be ok son"..sure pops let me go crack the clear and rip a body panel on your shiny BMW in the parking lot since its no big deal..i was done with the regional rep at that point

i was at my wits ends...did some research found a TSB that described my exact problem the dealer didnt even know about and finally on the 4th fender they installed a 5 dollar "kit" and if fixed the problem for good..take your seat off your new bike and look at the 2 little pieces that screw into the top of the frame that your seat sits on..thats the fix..

in summary Call the 800 number and dont give up with them..they make things happen a lot of times if you threaten legal action they will just say ok becuase they know they have a entire divison of lawyers on payroll to tackle it..

some of the other posters are right on point though if you modd it then it can cause other issues..i wont let the stealer touch mine unless its warranty or recall.. my 11 is set up the same i decatted and used monster rounds with a tts tuner and arlen ness intake...redline helps with top end noise...

when you bring a bike in for service the complaint & repair/notes go in the computer & any dealer just has to enter the vin # to get the history of the bike from delivery to present so although you have a good thought I am not sure if it will make any difference - it all depends on how the dealership proceeds with addressing the complaint

Never going to win this one with HD. The dealer did the mods prior to delivery, let them be responsible for correcting the problem. I did the same basic mods to my 09 and have a ticking at 2500 rpm. Don't know if this caused the problem, but a previous post makes a good argument that it did. Will be investigating some of his fixes.

I think we should all campaign to get this rep fired.

He's obviously the REAL problem here.

PLUS, I'd really like to be a Harley rep!
Let's get your rep fired, and then I'll take his job.

I have Rineharts and a programmer on my bike, and it runs and sounds just fine.
So.... I'd cover it under warranty.

Everybody wins!!
