I am 5'6 and have the 12s on mine. I am glad I got them. They are above the fairing but my ride is great and I love the better control and leverage I have. I had never changed bars before and had not problem extending the wires or pulling them. It's push pull not just pull. As far as the mirrors, maybe it's because I am short don't know, but I can see my mirrors. If I get to relaxed I have to raise my arm slightly without letting go of the grip but I got used to that pretty quick. If anybody around the columbia SC area does them let me know. I'd be glad to help. Nothing to it. Don't spend the money for labor if you don't have to. I work for beer and have a lift.

Oh change the bushings while doing it. jmho

I went with 10's. I went with the 10's, so I wouldn't have to do new cables or wires. Fortunately, I was able to sit on a bike with 12's at the dealership, they looked great, but it wasn't an ideal set up for me (bum shoulder). So, I'm totally pleased on the look and the feel of the 10 PYO's.

ok - This is obviously a Newbie question but I was under the impression the Yaffe Monkey Bars were - YMB. What is PYO?

Those bars pictured are only 10's? Maybe I guess I'm not used to seeing the difference in the Road vs Street Glide applications but that looks crazy high - and cool!

Unless you pull them back pretty far, but I think they will clear the fairing no matter what...
I've never actually thought about my torso height being inadequate? LOL!! TBH - not many of my friends have touring and apes, but one does. His were 14" no-name bars which I didn't like the angles and stuff but he had me under the impression I was going to need 12 or 14 and pushing me to go 14". I'm just nervous to shell out the equivalent of $400-1100 depending on manufacturer and if I'm going with Hillcountry prewired full setup drop in's when I can't get an accurate idea of what I want to ride with.

To answer the torso thing, I'll post a picture of me riding - yeah I could skip a pulled pork sandwich every now and again. HA!

Was there a question here, I just spent an hour watching your avatar.

I went with 10 3/4" KST Mayhems hoping it would keep my hands under the wind, it didn't. Now I wish I went with 12s

here's my two cents. i went with the 10" MBB, for the simple reason I wanted to keep my stock fairing mirrors and bars behind the fairing. mission accomplished. granted, i have to look under my arms to look in the mirror, but something I got used to real quick. I'm 6'5" and the 10" are fine for me. it was recommended I get 12" or 14".....wasn't happening. I don't care for looks of the bars above the fairing. I have made a few long distance trips with the MBB's and no pain or discomfort. I used all stock cables.

Newbie question...does anyone know what the "official" published height of the stock bars on my 2012 Ultra Classic is...6", 8", somewhere in between? If they're considered 6", then 10" bars (additional 4") would make a big difference already. Would prefer to keep my hands more or less behind the fairing.

Thanks as this would really help in making my decision.

Not a matter of an inadequate torso man. *LOL* I meant your legs are too damn long.

PYO is Paul Yaffe Originals. The official name of Yaffe's company/shop.

My bars are pushed all the way forward. Straight up. I think that gives them a higher appearance. Plus many say the PYO MBB's are a little taller than advertised when compared to other brands.

Most people out there will tell you to go 2" taller than you decide upon. So go 12". Plus, most SG riders I've seen go for 12" saying they can keep the fairing mirrors. The only SG riders I've talked to that got 10's ALL had their fairing mirrors removed.

I guess it is just going to have to come down to either taking the plunge on the 12" or calling up all the dealers until I find one on the floor with 14's to try out. I'm just kinda nervous throwing out that kinda change on something I'm not 100% on. It's not like it's a $120 windshield lol.

I wish there was a way to ask this question without sounding like an idiot, but unless I missed it, I didn't see where anyone asked if there was a difference between the SG handlebars/wires VS the Ultra with ABS. I have an Ultra with ABS and want to do 10" bars. I have seen where guys say that you don't have to do wires and cables for 10's, but is that the same on SG and Ultra?
