I recently purchased a 2001 EG Standard. It's bone stock. I wanted to change up the look a bit so I bought a badlander seat and plan to put a shorter smoked LRS shield (8-10") on next . The seat came yesterday and it does look great on the bike. I knew it would be a hard seat and indeed it is. I ride solo most of the time so no worries about a passenger when it's on. I plan to swap the OEM seat out as my mood changes since it's just one screw and takes just a couple minutes. My question is do they make a true low profile seat that is not so dang hard?? I plan to keep this a while and maybe ebay it later if I can find a better fit later. I only paid about $180.00 with shipping so it won't be a big loss when I go to resell it. How does the stock SG seat feel??
Meancitycycles... check them out! They do good work and are very reasonable....they will mod your seat to your liking! Did mine and my wife's seat...and getting a solo seat for my SG modded very soon!
SG seat is ok for about 1-2 hours for me. Contact C&C. Maybe go for the gel insert also, that should help with comfort.
Bingo on the stock SG seat (at least the 2010 version). Comfortable around town. Rode to Milwaukee last year and felt like I broke my tailbone by the time I got there.
Went with C&C and the gel option (Fastback and Sport Tour). Love them!
I have the 09 frame and the 2010 SG seat is good for up to 4 hours, painful at 6.
It has a nice bumper at the back for "***-steering", and keeps you in place well when cornering and accelerating.
a key for seat selection if your inseam is short is a narrow nose on the seat, allows your legs to reach the ground, without going out ( and same models seats can change profile, shape and padding from year to year
second the A+ on MeanCity Cycles they modified my stock 2008 FLHRC seat . lowerd seat several inchs narrowed the nose added a little memorey foam . looks great rides very comfortable and a thrifty price.
If your looking for low profile with looks and comfort, than this lePera Sorrento is a good one. I also have a mustang seat (shown in sig) that I have over 10,000mi on and I really like it also.
Your not going to find a good quality seat that meets the comfort you desire and has low profile features for $180. I'm sure that every now and then you could come across something used for that, but I haven't found anything that I like for that price.
Both of the seats I mentioned are in the $500 range, but solo's are a bit cheaper. Good luck!
