Yes, if you don't it will melt when it gets hot and run down your lh fork tube and you will think your fork seal is leaking.

Yes, it isn't doing you any good outside of the steering head.

Grab that popsicle stick when Jr. is done with it and scrape off that grease overflow.

When serviced they always squirt it in there until it flows out. Only sure fire to make sure it's completely lubed.

P.S. A little dab of that grease will hold a torx screw nicely to the driver if you need to get it up in a hard to reach area.

Yep, wipe off. It does nothing good on the outside, and makes a mess on the front of the gas tank on a hot day.

Clean it off. No use for it on the outside. As stated, it may start running in really hot weather this summer, so even more reason to get it wiped off before it pisses you off.

When you have the time, replace it with a high temperature type like red tacky. Course will take a bunch to get the melting stuff out.

Dealers don't "always" fill it up. Had the dealer do the 1K service and when I did my own 5K, pumped more than half a tube of the red tacky stuff before I got it to ooze. And it was red that showed up, not the greenish the dealer claimed to use. Have read that at the factory they are hand packed so that leaves a large compartment to fill up to get the bearings lubricated.

Here in south AL, no problem of the red stuff melting out.
