Just got Screamin Eagle mufflers for my 2012 street glide and they are not what i expected. My fault for not doing my research. I like they way the look and i was always happy with how screamin mufflers sounded on some of my previous bikes. I guess times have changed. Anyways, has anyone pulled the stock baffles out of these things? I want to put a different baffle in or modify these ones. just looking to see how its done. I see there are rivots holding them in. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Its not the mufflers. You need to replace the headers...I have the Supertrapp version of those mufflers with Vance and Hines Power dual headers. Plenty loud (for me..I am a sissy) and sounds GREAT...
I put them on my 08 lowrider when it was new. we drilled out the rivets and pulled the baffles out and cut about eight inches off the ends and put them back in. The fit was so tight we didn't even have to try and put a bolt in them. As the miles went on the sound kept getting better and louder. I had several guys I ride with compliment the sound. Just traded that dyna a month ago. No popping on decel either. I was happy with it. Good luck.
I got some 2010 S.E. mufflers off ebay and put on my 08-Elect-Glide-U.C. 80db is stamped in mufflers. They are so-quiet, if the motor didn't shake at idle, you would never hear it run! I am running a S & S True-Power-Crossover-Dual-header, so wife likes it, but, I want more tone!
Remove the baffles measure 4" back from the exit end and cut it at that mark. Reinstall the 4" piece. Sound was awesome when I did that to the ones I had on my other bike.
These mufflers have the changeable tips so does that plate that the tips mount too come out with the baffle?
good question...have the same mufflers and was wondering the same thing. read a lot of threads of either cutting the baffles down or drilling out all the holes and making them bigger. also read some issues with back pressure and some folks use toruqe cones.
im running SE 4" touring mufflers with a decatted header and my bike sounds good. could be a little louder but it has a nice deep rumble to it and not that tinny sound. i can email you a video clip if you'd like. it will not let me post it here for some reason.
If you still have a cat it won't change a whole lot. Try starting it without any mufflers at all. It's not anywhere as loud as you would expect. For a big change in sound you have to get an aftermarket head pipe
I got them out and cut the baffles down to 4 inches. was pretty easy. Louder but not that much. acceleration is where it definitly got louder. Going to see if i can get bigger baffles for them. 1 3/4 is not going to cut it and i do agree with having to get that cat out of there
