Anyone switch out their front rotors for aftermarket ones? Mine are shot and need to be replaced. I never understood why the factory rotors have one button for expansion otherwise is one solid piece. Why not full floating? I assumed they make full floating rotors to reduce warpage when they get hot, and maybe run a bit smoother.

I noticed a plethora of rotors out there. What do you run and why?

Your bloody well right, alot of brands to choose from. Maybe ya should just get a new takoff stock pair.
Personally I change the pads first.

 

I just changed mine out with some EBC rotors, had no working issues with the stocks but couldnt stand the look of them. These bolted right on in about half an hour to do both sides.

Short ride, feel just like stock even with my lyndal Z brake pads.

 

I guess I didn't change my pad when I should have. The rotors are looking pretty bad for wear and tear. Plus they pulsate a bit. So I'm thinking of switching them out.



Yea that's what I'm talking about. I like the full floating rotors. I think it's gotta be a good thing. Probably wouldn't notice a differnece unless you could compare when they're hot. You need to go on an agressive ride when you're hitting the brakes a lot.

 

Swapping mine out this weekend for a set of no mile take offs. Bought the bike with 11K on it and the rotors are warped in a bad way, you have to be real careful coming to a stop or it will get scary fast.

 

I've used EBC in the past and been pleased with them. Harley also sell full floating rotors and when I looked a year or so ago they were similar in price to EBC. So I have an HD one on the rear of my bike at present.

Harley had good prices as well but no styles that I liked, so I went with these.

Tell me something, why don't they put full floaters on the rear? Is it because the rear doesn't get as hot?

 

Im not sure about anyone else but I hardly use my rear brakes, mostly front and down shifting. My stock disk works fine in the rear and because its covered by the saddle bag no use in changing out for a fancy one. IMO
