My 2010 street glide with a stock 96 has an oil leak some where, but I just can't find it. I recently changed all 3 fluids, installed new o-rings & derby cover gasket. No leaks there. I'll park my night over night, come out the next day & it's a quarter sized oil spot right beneath the primary case. Most likely it drips out there because of being on the jiffy stand.
Can anyone tell me if they had this same problem or is it a known problem that occurs with these bikes. I'm confused.
The manual makes mention of thread sealer on the drain plugs. You can see signs of it on the drain plug when you take it off the first time. Also, check the muffler bracket that bolts to the bottom of the tranny, if those come loose fluid will leak from the tranny. Locktite them.
I dropped the exhaust & three locked the two bolts on the muffler bracket beneath the tranny cover. Double checked all bolts on right side if bike. All are tight.
I will check the stators wires on the primary tonight.
It's a puzzle!
Primary cover gasket is good. Not leaking. Primary oil is red. What's leaking is brownish. Oil. On my way home from work now to check out the stator wires at the primary.
