I have an 01 electra glide, rejetted carb, high flow air, vance and hines slip on's. want to upgrade cams. want more freeway passing power as well as more pulling power for those long uphill grades (I=40 kingman to flagstaff for example)) from 70mph to 85mph+ 2800rpm to 3800rpm's is where I want the extra power. . Heard from a couple of people who have with my set up are very happy with the 21's. talked to the tech at Andrews and he said the 26's. I'd like to hear more feed back from guys with my setup who have gone with the either.
Thanks
I had the 26's in my Dyna and they were very nice cams. They had plenty of grunt and pulled hard in the RPM range you are looking at. I plan on putting a set in my Street Glide in the near future.
01 RK 95BB 3.37 final drive (use to be an EFI) street port heads, CVO mufflers w/fulsac baffles..... 100% single rider.... Andrews26! If you are running 2 up most of the time and stock motor the 21 might be the best fit. Some good reading on the subject:
I installed the 21s on my 2000 EG with big bore kit. I followed Joe Minton's build from AIM. (Google It) I am happy with mine. Has a lot of get up and go and I find when I am with my friends with stock 96s they seem to down shift a lot more than I do. The 21s have the power band right where I ride. Now, I am not looking for power to the redline - just where I need it most and mine delivers. Now, I did get a lot of suggestions to go to the 26, which I am sure I would have liked too! PS mine in carbed bike, big bore to 97-98 and jsut installed Mikuni 42 carb over the summer and love it!!
Very pleased with the 21's. Power just like you are looking for. The 26 as you know has it's power band just a little to the right of the 21, but not much. Some say the 21 drops off fast. Well if it does, because I can't really tell, it is still a better top end than the stock cam. I don't think you can really go wrong with either cam.
I am a big guy, ride two up frequently, and have no interest in further upgrades in my motor. The 21 was the choice for me. If you are planning on futher motor work, get the 26's.
