Sorry, I blip, not obnoxious...but an attention getter.
My lady has a tendency to enjoy the scenery and a quick blip before downshifting or slowing down is her cue to "get ready" as something is coming up ahead of us....regardless of what.
Keeps my hands on the bars, my eyes on what's ahead, and let's her know to pay attention.
Sorry if that offends some folks....but works for me and her.
Damn i always blip the throttle before a down shift to match rpm. I must be one of those azzholes.
me too...
maybe he likes beating the **** out of his bike? he paid for it so more power to him.
save all the scientific bull.... i blip a bit every downshift now. as a new rider when i didnt i had the rear wheel slide a few times and the advice i was given was to blip the throttle when downshifting. guess what? havent had the rear wheel slide in downshift since. yes i like hearing my pipes but bliping the throttle does little for that, thats what god invented overpasses and brick buildings for.
dunno about some of you but i bought a harley because i've always liked the sound they make. i mean honestly besides look and sound what does a harley do better than other bikes?

If you can't ride your bike and downshift without sliding your rear wheel if you don't "blip" I would like to offer the following advise.
"sell your bike and use public transport" because you are clearly not in control and therefor an accident waiting to happen.
I'm not saying this to offend you and please don't take any but there's enough bad riders on the road already.
I enjoy hearing my pipes and agree that "blipping" the throttle helps with shifting. But, I also take into consideration my surroundings when doing so. I ease through my neighborhood without the sterio blasting and never blip the throttle. I have no problem cruising down the road listening to my tunes but when I come into a small town or stop at a red light with others around, I turn down my tunes. I think its just being considerate of others. Something our society has lost a long time ago.
This is me. I blip, but am courteous & aware of my surroundings. (there is a difference between blipping & obnoxious revving) Riders that rev next to someone walking there pet or people minding their own business is being an *******. And to get on the OP about what he is expressing, you are being a ********.

You 'blip' an 18 wheeler,WITH THE TRANS IN NEUTRAL-to match rpm's to downshift.[NO sychromesh in the semi} IMPOSSIBLE to do on a MOTORCYCLE,because it is a CONSTANT MESH TRANSMISSION Blip the thing if you want, but don't use smoother shifts as an excuse.
You know, I was gonna hammer you on this but instead I'm going to chalk it up to you just not knowing any better.
With that being said, you should keep the technical transmission comments to yourself because you are dead wrong.

its easy to downshift without sliding when not blipping the throttle........ if your puttin around at low rpm's downshifting at high rpm's is another story. as for me being unsafe, i've averaged 1,000 miles per month since buying the bike in the winter without a single incident and did VERY well in the motorcycle safety course so i must be doing ok...
as for your "im not saying this to offend you" crap yea ok buddy, i think just about anyone you would post that response to would be offended.
