Default My New Project - DTT Closed Loop Ignition!

Well, I've had this stuff long enough.... rekon I out'a start putt'n it together and since we finished Craigs with some weekend left, I guess today was as good a time as any to get after it!

This project is going to be replacing my current Delphi/DakotaKid 48mm TB, V-Rod injectors, and Delphi ECM with the following:

BC Geralomy Dual Runner 50mm (2x50mm) ThrottleBody (http://www.bcheads.com/fuel.htm)
Stock Injectors, blueprinted and flow tested @ Marren Injector (http://www.injector.com/harleyinjection.php)
Daytona TwinTec TCFI-IID closed loop, dual channel, ignition sytem (http://www.daytona-twintec.com/TCFI.html)

So, let's see if I can be 1/2 as crafty as Bryan and post the progress so far.....

Here's my starting point. Pulled my Dakota Kid 48mm (bored) THrottleBody. Intake ports look HQ new!

A quick look at the BC Geralomy Dual Runner 50mm (2x50mm) ThrottleBody.

Side by side look @ the Delphi / Dakota Kid (left) and Geralomy 2x50mm (right)

Just getting him bolted on.

Now it's all wired up....

This I use on all my bikes. It hangs behind the backplate and keeps all the hot oily mucous out of my intake! I had to drill & tap the backplate for the nipples and block the standard vent up w/E6000.

.... with the new Geralomy air filter and trim...

and finally a look from the top. Nice & clean!

I will say that this was BY FAR the most difficult ThrottleBody installlation I've ever been involved with. There are some very subtle changes that result from them reshaping the runners that present some challenges. All the sensors in the new TB are also new.

With the TB part outa the way, the next phase is gonna be installing the DTT TCFI-IID. The FatCat has O2 bungs in place already, so that's easy. I just need to figure out how I want to run the cables to keep it clean looking and additionally shield the connectors from the elements to the best of my ability.

I'll be working on it bits & pieces through the week, so I'll try to keep this updated. ...

That's an awesome set-up Phil. I've used Barry's heads before, and my Dad also has a set of his heads on a 106" build that puts out over 115/125. Barry really knows his stuff. Can't wait to hear the results. What are your plans for that Dakota Kid TB once this new set-up gets the bugs worked out?

I don't know for sure yet, BZ.... Think ya might need one?

If I get rid of it, it will have to be in some sorta trade so I have at least a stock one available should I need it.

Go for it Steve. It's not going to be enough for the build I am planning. Plus it will not work cleanly on an '07, I would have to convert it.

Yes Sir! It's already hooked up. I'd be hard pressed to give it up, I sure enjoy it on the road!

I made limited progress tonight, but as long as I'm moving fwd, that's what matters. Gotta be running for a St. Patty's Day Run Sunday. Guess we could take the Buell, but I sure would rather ride the Glide!

Bryan, Paul, Karl, anyone else wanna join Allen, Kevin, Wifey, & I on the St. Patty's Day Run? Bike games on my Buell should by hysterical!

Out with the old... (trusty PCIIIusb)

Added the two (2) WEGO inputs to the ECM harness. Think this is blurry? I had to use a magnifying glass to see the right pins & connector slots!

... and a look at the TCFI-IID with WEGO unit on top. All connected except for selecting a nice clean way to tie the red lead into switched power. I still gotta clean up the sensor cables too, but that's easy!
