Default Baisley spring questions

I am getting ready to throw in a set of 48H cams, Gaterman lifters and SE EZ install pushrods, along with new bearings of course. I am considering getting a Baisley LMR-002 oil pressure spring to up the pressure a bit. I have a few questions about this spring for those who have been running it for some time:

1. Have you noticed any increased oil usage?

2. Have you had more (or any) oil blowing or dripping from the air filter since putting in the spring?

3. Did the spring help, hurt, or make no difference?

When my stock engine is nice and hot and at idle, the oil pressure on the fairing gauge shows 5 lbs to almost no pressure. I know this is common and normal but was thinking it may be good to raise that with the higher lift cam. The concern I have is possibly too much oil being sprayed or flung at the cylinder walls causing it to get past the rings or too much gathering in the rocker covers and getting forced out the vents into the air filter.

Any comments from those with experience with this spring, or other higher pressure pumps, are welcome.

I have used the +30 Baisley spring and did not experience any of the negative effects that you listed. I really think if you use a Baisley spring the +15 is plenty. I am currently using the Axtell oil by-pass system which will increase your oil pressure and it allow the by-passed oil to drain back into the cam chest where it can be recycled by the pump. The stock system pushes it back to the pickup side under pressure which I have read causes the oil to foam, dropping pressure and losing lubrication qualities. The Axtell system cost $85. I would also recommend using the Zipper's Redshift dual piston tensioners. The combination of these two upgrades made my valve train much quieter.

I run the Baisley spring in my 'Train; I'm putting the Axtel kit into the CVO.

I've had no issue with oil usage on the 'Train. I run a Doherty Power Pac air cleaner with tubing run from the vents down to below the frame, and I never see oil down there. The bike's running over 11:1 compression and it isn't blowing oil out. Cams are gear-drive, so there's some whine from that, but nothing out of the ordinary. WHIW, I'm also running the Feuling cam plate and oil pump.

I ran one in my 04 with no ill effects, in my TC96 I didn't see the need as the newer pump suffices.

Increased oil pressure while riding and at idle. Possibly I quieter valve train. No issues in about 3000 miles and no observed oil foaming. The other system was not available when I installed mine or I would have used it.

Thanks for the responses. I have a 15+ spring coming from Latus so I will put that in when I do the cams. I am putting in the new compensator at the same time. All I need now is for the weather to cooperate.

Don't know about the Baisley system, but I do have the Axtel and have not had any issues with it. My oil pressure runs about 12-15 psi. at idle and up to temp, about 40-50 at speed.
