gave that a half hearted shot last nite (I was too pissed/bummed) to really concentrate. There's 16 wires going into each end, so no room to snake a zip tie thru. And no place to get a grip on the sides...I guess I could give that another try tonite.
I just plug them back together and leave it at that, those little bastards are hard enough to pull apart without that locking tab that they won't come apart.

where the dots are wires on one side, commas are wires on the other side and the | is the zip tie running the same direction as the wires but around the male AND female connectors. I've done it many times.
its not hard to replace. There are instructions in the back of the service manual. Search ebay for replacement. Buy the proper tool and follow the directions and its simple. There are some threads here from the last two weeks which will help you
