G'day from Oz
A bit about me, I got my motorbike license 53 1/2 years ago. Rode a few bike, then in the late 80's got my first Harley, a 1200 Sportie. Only had that for a couple of months before upgrading to a Big Twin, a late 80's FXST. Rode that around the South of England and across into France for a year or 2 before leaving the UK and migrating to Australia. First bike here was an 1100 Suziki, I did not know how long I was going to be here so just wanted wheels to get me by. As soon as my permanent resident status was confirmed traded that bike in for a new 91 FXSTC. Had a ball on that bike over the next 11 years, clocking over 100,000klm including a ride from Sydney to Darwin, to Aires Rock, To Cairns and back to Sydney, 5 months, and around 20,000klm round trip.
The FXSTC had all sorts done over the time I had it, flowed heads, high lift cam, progressive suspension, fork brace and 19" front wheel, extra chrome, custom made foot pegs and extended forward controls, then the best bit, a custom paint job that took out best paint of show at one of the bigger bike show in Sydney, Highway 61's Easter show.
When the kids came along I took a break from bikes for 20 years, mortgage, wife, kids, responsibilities.
Then a couple of months ago a mate who has a collection of bikes invited me out for a ride... That was me hooked again, so as a late 69th birthday present I bought myself a 2010 FXST. Only had it for around 6 weeks, already changed the head light to a more powerful one and swapped the bars from 16" apes down to 10" like I used to run on my 91. Hum, wonder what next.
So here I am back on 2 wheels and loving it.
The latest ride, quite similar to the old one.
My 91 FXSTC in the shop up for sale. Wish I had kept it really.
