2014 Stereo/Head unit problems thread

Good information.
Bought my limited with 1.16 firmware. Was having a lot of issues with the SiriusXM module I had them install. The ESN was "undefined", so I couldn't activate it. After updating using their procedure, which is to download the zipped iso, unzip it, move the iso to the root of an 8GB USB drive formatted with FAT32, turn the bike on to accessory, plug in the iso after the radio boots, and accept the prompt to update.
You should see two progress bars, it took about half hour.
Once it was done, the finger print for the NAV worked, and the SiriusXM gave me the code so I could activate it.
I did the fingerprint for the NAV, plugged into my laptop and updated with the NaviTools, plugged into the bike and it recognized the update, started install, and also failed with the "NavNoContent" error. Not sure why, but I didn't bother going any further.
I also am having the pops when listening to FM, so those of you who are having that are not alone. It only occurs on FM, though, not with the bluetooth, USB, XM, or otherwise.
I added the boom amp upgrade and 6.5" speakers, and the pops are still there with that.
After adding the amp upgrade, I also have the fade issue. Sometimes when I start the bike, the rear speakers are the only ones on. I go to the fade and push it forward one notch, and the fronts come on. It seems to forget this setting on occasion, and I have to go back and redo it. This only started happening after the amp was installed, so I am thinking it has something to do with that.
My automatic volume seems to work fairly well, it is set on level 2 of 4. It's quiet when the bike is stopped, gets a lot louder when I start up slow, and then gets a little louder when I'm going faster.
I noticed the seek/preset issue, too... it saves whether you want to skip through the presets or seek regardless of which mode you're in. For example, on FM, I want the preset, so I can skip through my FM presets with one touch on the left hand joystick. It's too cumbersome skipping through on the right hand one. On media (USB/Bluetooth) I like to seek, so I can skip ahead on songs in my play list. So, I have to switch modes from seek to preset each time when changing from one to the other.
Overall it's been very good, but just like any computer, there are a few bugs that need to be worked out.
When using the GPS in navigation, with my iphone plugged in and listening to a playlist, about an hour into the ride it seemed to lock up when the GPS lady was talking to me for a brief moment, and the iphone got stuck paused. It was kind of strange, I saw on the media page for the iphone a pause symbol at the bottom of the screen, and I couldn't get it to unpause. No idea how to play again, I tried to press the pause button on the screen, tried to switch to a new playlist, switched to the radio, etc. No change. Eventually I just switched in the media menu to Bluetooth iphone instead of USB iphone, and it started playing right where it left off. Little strange, but something to watch for.
Also, the text messages do not seem to work. Not that I mind, I have NO interest in reading text messages while riding... not even sure it was a good idea for them to put this into the system. Regardless, I do like the "auto-reply" concept, so when someone texts me it can say "Hey, I'm on the bike, will reply at the next gas stop". This is useful for when I'm riding to meet up with buddies and they're trying to figure out when I'll get there, they know I'm en-route. However, it can't read my inbox. I think this is an iphone problem, though, cause it doesn't seem to work in my Ford Sync, either.
Just other stuff to look out for.
Anyone reading these please use them as FYIs... I'm not trashing the system, since it is AWESOME otherwise! I absolutely love the controls, the GPS integration, the USB port, the Sirius... the infotainment is, in my opinion, worth the upgrade to the new bike alone. Excellent sound from the 6.5" with amp upgrade, too.
Once I did that, it worked fine.

Thought I read that you cant access your text inbox until you stop. And then it will read your messages to you. Safety feature.
