Is the new m8 sportglide prone to the transfer issue? Or any other issue for that matter?
Nope. Youll find lots of complaints about rattling gas caps and speedometer condensation, but it appears the transfer issues were solved before the FLSB was released.
I ended up making it into a mini road glide.
I actually traded in a 15 RG for a 18 Sport Glide back in August.
I first enjoyed the more back to basic thing but I began to miss the wind protection (much of my ride is on freeways...) of a full fairing, especially after riding touring bikes for the last 10 years. But I REALLY was enjoying the lightness of the sport glide. So I decided to put a real fairing on it. I didnt wanna go with batwing (way too many out there! Lol). Then I came across Wedge Fairing Which was exactly what I was looking for.
I also adapted the hard lowers that I kept when sold the RG. I had to trim a little bit to make it fit in the softail engine guard. But I think it turned out to be OK looking.
I have also shaved the stock seat padding aa little to move me lower and further back.
This set up (wedge fairing and factory hats lowers) actually gives me even better wind protection than the real road glide. No air coming up around the tank.
Im very happy with how it turned out.
Now I can leave it alone and just enjoy riding it!! (Thats only till the mod bug bites me again.....lol)
Very nice job!! I just saw a Sport Glide last weekend and was impressed. I thought wow, they should make one with a Road Glide type fairing and have a true sport tourer like the FXRT was. They should offer this style as well, make it a Sport Glide Touring. Would be nice to have a newer style fairing with the vents and have it detachable. Set of speakers and a way to connect phone or ipod for tunes.
Again, congrats, great job. Might be looking for a good used one down the line as a second bike beside my Street Glide.
saw this on facebook and thought guys might like to see what a sport glide with a fxrs fairing looked like
That is what I was talking about. This is the way they should offer a touring version of the Sport Glide. Can you post or PM a link to the facebook site? Definately a Sport Glide in my future as a second, lighter bike.
Cyureus, How do you like the Rinehart exhaust? I'm wondering on the loudness compared to the HD street cannons? I would like something a bit louder than the street cannons but not any where as loud as V&H.
Thanks,
I have also added the Rinehart 4" chrome on chrome. Gives a nice rich sound but not too loud. The only time it seems a little too loud is at 5:30 am leaving for work, ha, but not bad. It's probably just me but the more time I put on the Rinehart the richer it seems to sound, weird. Maybe its the carbon build up, I don't know. I didn't notice and real change in power, good or bad, but it seems my gas mileage has increased, like consistently 50 mpg+, if I ride it like I own it. Still running stock air cleaner but added SE 10mm plug wires with stock plugs and stock tune. Runs great.
