I ended up making it into a mini road glide.
I actually traded in a 15 RG for a 18 Sport Glide back in August.
I first enjoyed the more back to basic thing but I began to miss the wind protection (much of my ride is on freeways...) of a full fairing, especially after riding touring bikes for the last 10 years. But I REALLY was enjoying the lightness of the sport glide. So I decided to put a real fairing on it. I didnt wanna go with batwing (way too many out there! Lol). Then I came across Wedge Fairing Which was exactly what I was looking for.
I also adapted the hard lowers that I kept when sold the RG. I had to trim a little bit to make it fit in the softail engine guard. But I think it turned out to be OK looking.
I have also shaved the stock seat padding aa little to move me lower and further back.
This set up (wedge fairing and factory hats lowers) actually gives me even better wind protection than the real road glide. No air coming up around the tank.
Im very happy with how it turned out.
Now I can leave it alone and just enjoy riding it!! (Thats only till the mod bug bites me again.....lol)
Hey all, probably late to the game. Bought my Sport Glide back in September. I love it. When I was looking for an upgrade j was actually looking for something that is now the Ultra Glide Standard. I was considering putting on the Memphis Shades batwing fairing, but came across Wedge Farings frame mounted like the RG and now I'm leaning very heavily in that direction.
Currently I run no fairing. Seems to cut out the buffeting for me, and I'm coming off an Iron 883 with 12" apes so it doesn't bother me so much. Just put on some floor boards tonight. I've got 8" brawler bars, I'm still looking for a complementing 4" riser, Rinehart 4" slip on without the end cap dampener, SE heavy breather, Fp3 tuner, sundowner seat, mustache bar, and external breather.
How do you like it so far? My phone actually flew out of my mount this past weekend and spent the night on he side of the road in the middle of nowhere 😑 So I'm looking for a replacement mount.
Oh lord. Nothing like that so far. Seems to stay in there pretty snug. Does still vibrate a bit, but I think I just need to accept that if I want GPS.
Cyureus, How do you like the Rinehart exhaust? I'm wondering on the loudness compared to the HD street cannons? I would like something a bit louder than the street cannons but not any where as loud as V&H.
I added the Rinehart as part of a Stage One upgrade that included an SE Ventilator and a dyno tune. There was a noticeable increase in hp and torque, about 9 percent overall. But I dont think exhaust alone would make a big difference, except of course in sound.
Here are the settings for the FLSB from the on-line owners manual.
Hi there I am finding the rear suspension is bottoming out on some ride 2 up with the string on 5 so looking into replacing rear shock with progessive heavy duty.
