Ok here is my delima. I have a 06 ultra and been reading alot up on the audio forums and the more i read the more i get wrapped up in going beyond the budget!!! Plus there is always newer and better stuff that i would like but budget cant afford. So here goes have a budget of $1000. My bike is an 06 ultra with TP. Most of my riding is 45-80 mph. Commute on highway to and from work. And of course on weekend trips couple hundred miles. CB and FM reception dont need. I would like BT, handlebar controls, fairing and lowers for sure, and add TP just because. No speakers in the bags as they stay pretty full. So thats 6 speakers, amp, head unit, plus brackets, amp tray, install kit, splash cover. I know there alot of options so this is what ive been looking at for around $1000...
Interesting. I have a very similar set up that I can share with you. An 07 ultra cvo with the kenwood excelon KDC X502, ss pn4.1000, kappas in the fairing, Polk DB 561 in TP and hopefully the moto's in the lowers in the next couple of days. The Kenwood is fantastic! Plenty of tuning options spotify works with my handlebar controls, XM radio (with the module of course), the hands free calling even works up to about 40mph, only complaint is it takes a bit for BT connection and the range blows. As it sits right now I can for sure hear it at 80mph but it is very bright. I hope with the addition of these moto's I can get some balance if not my next move is PRV's with horns in the guages in the fairing and an additional amp. Good luck with your hunt!
Thanks Tree1381 on the info. Ill check out the 561's. Question, did you have to trim the plastic back around the speedo and tac to get the amp to fit? Spotify with hand controls is awesome!! Glad to hear you can hear it at 80.... Yea the brightness will be a trait of the full range speakers with no subs. FM reception i knew id loose. No biggie.
Didn't have to alter the speedo & tach, however I did have to grind off one side of the mounting brackets on the amp. It was a tight fit. Picture is of my old head unit got rid of that giant XM module and cleaned her up a bit since but everything fits.
I just installed the MEX-gs620bt, having some issues getting the bar controls figured out. Gonna call Scosche for support on the adapter and maybe Sony as well this evening.
So far tho it sounds great. Bluetooth clarity is good, CD is good, haven't tried USB yet. Radio reception is actually pretty good using the small antenna that came with the Scosche install kit.
