So I'm a couple sessions in to tuning my new set-up. There is a considerable amount of static/noise coming from the fairing and lid speakers. This is noticeable with the volume at zero. Gets a little worse if I turn up the volume without music playing.
I started fiddling around with the wiring in the fairing and noticed it got real loud when I moved the input RCA's for the DSR-1. The four inputs are right next to each other on the harness, so not a great way to separate them. I'm using 3' Kicker RCA's on those inputs.
Is there a way to shield them? Shrink wrap, electrical tape? Are Kickers known for this? The RCA's going to my amps are Stinger and I don't notice any noise when I move those around.
I was wondering about that, but hadn't had the time to look up the term to see if that was a correct way to describe it.
It should be noted that the fairing and lid speakers are both on an SD800.4. I remember RF responding to another thread on here indicating those amps are not very" clean" and will cause this type of issue. I'll have to find that thread and see if there was a suggestion on minimizing it.
I will put some heat shrink on the RCA's. I might also swap them with the Stingers to see if they act the same way. Thanks for the suggestions.
Here's the full set-up in case anyone sees anything that may be an issue I am not aware of.

I to had issuses with an sd 800.4 w/dsr1 and noise. Also had a loud pop at turn off. I tried an sd400.4 and everything went away. I wonder if its just the amp for you as well.
I don't have a pop at this time. I went ahead and ordered some 18" KnuKoncepts RCA's for the input side. They showed up yesterday, so I'll throw them in tonight and see what's what. That should help clean up a little wiring. Those 3' were over kill and I've got a rats nest that I have to clean up. Just not sure how to do it yet.
