The other night I stopped at an intersection and I hear this squeek coming from my Street Bob. I hadn't ridden it in a couple of days because I haven't had time to check it out, working 7/12's. This evening I inspected my exhaust I retorqued the muffler clamps and cranked up the bike. It was still squeeking. I then started checking othernuts and bolts anddiscovered that both the bolt and the nut that holds the muffler bracketto the transmission were loose. The nut is a lock nut, so I just tightened it up and removed the bolt applied blue locktite and tightened it up.
Just thought I would pass this info along just incase anyone else runs into this problem.
I wish I could find my GD squeak !!!! It is bad......sounds like from around the swing arm area.... Drives me insane in city traffic !!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Noticed you have upgraded the rear shocks. If the new shocks lowered your bike, they also may have change your belt tension. Worth checking as this could cause the squeak.
I had a squeak, I thought it was the exhaust, too. Turns out it was the chrome coveron the rear fender support bracket. The middle bolt was loose, not he shock mount or the turn signal. Go figure. Always gotta "nut & bolt" you bike.
My squeak came from my ***, while cruising down the highway some nutjob in front of me had a matress in the back of his pick-up. Well the dummy never thought to reomve the sheet, it blew off and landed right in my path and i ran over it, doing about 75mph, whew!
Is there some kind of unwritten law that you must be a moron to move a matress? I swear...[:@]... I have seen more idiotic moves made with a mattress in the back of a pickup truck than I can count.
I ran over one in the 18 wheeler one time, no place to move out of the way, and it wrapped around the drive axles and burned a hole through the inside tire on the passenger side before I could stop.......[:@][:@]then there was the fire under the truck from all the steel inside the tire and the mattress flaming all the stuffing......[:@][:@][:@]....did I mention I was hauling a load of gasoline at the time?[:@][:@][:@][:@]
Freaking morons.......[:@]
I AM REALLY GLAD YOU MADE IT THROUGH THAT STBOBBER![sm=deal.gif]
I had a clinking noise that I just couldn't find. It was driving me up a wall trying to figure out what could be making that odd noise! I finally located it, it was my dog tag on my key ring! Now I like hearing it! Reminds me of my Navy days.
