First post to this forum, did a search but did not find exactly what I was looking for--I own an 07 Dyna Lowrider and just bought PCIII, Rush slashdowns with 2" baffle and SE air kit (Fuel Moto). Was wondering if anyone could give me some install tips (first non cosmetic changes and not a pro with the wrenches). I have heard installing the PCIII was relatively straight forward but wondered if there were any tricks or gotchas that would save me some headaches (like, make sure you have black tie wraps handy, or watch how you remount to the ECM, wire runs etc). I have heard some good things about this setup so thought I would give it a go.
YOU'LL DO JUST FINE... it is pretty straight forward. i did not mount mine like the directions from powercommander, under ECM. i placed mine veritacly between the battery and the ECM. use some zip ties for the orignal ecm plug and the plug that goes into the PCIII. route it in front of the battery and ECM area... tie it off so it dont get close the the back cylinder. just take your time. use dielectric grease on all Plugs so water dont mess something up. if you cant get your pcIII in where you can pull it out and plug in your USB cord you way want to plug in the USB and leave it coiled under the seat. ummm... it should only take you 30 minutes at max... just watch your hands to be sure you dont unplug something accidently.
you made a great choice and you wont have any problems, the bike will run great but fitting the PCIII is a different story, i did some mods and placed mine flat under the seat, its easy enough and makes hooking up to the laptop easy. can mail you pix if you pm me...
First Howdy, Welcome from Michigun and Congratulations on the new acquisition.
Plus 1 on what shimmon said, the vertical mount is the way to go.
I'm able to pull mine up and out enough to plug in the USB cable, but tuck it back in after the 'adjustments'.
Like Scott said it IS worth it.
Good luck.
Thanks all for the posts and welcome!! Those links helped me get a feel for the good/bad/ugly shimmon, thanks.
SK, I sent you a PM on those pics! I love the bike but can't wait to make the mods, think it will make a good bike great. Probably make the changes the weekend after memorial day. I will let you know how I make out. As far as the connections are concerned, is it the stock and PCIII connections as well as O2 eliminator connections that need grease and taping?
Thought I would try adding a picture pre pipe/AC changes (actually this pic does not include changes to pegs/highway mounts {chrome} axle nuts etc that I have done). Seems I have a case ofmodifitis which I was warned about.[sm=bangbang.gif]
Will change it after air cover/Rush install in couple weeks.
I am surprised at how small the avatar needs to be on this forum.
Nice looking scoot you got there, Dave.
I am a bit partial to blue, though....
You've only just begun to go broke, "slowly put down the hammer and step away from the piggy bank"
I do have a throttle for mods. She will be watching me like a hawk for the rest of the summer. Might be able to sneak a bit of chrome after this mod but that will be about it.
Notice all you gents that replied here are running spokedwheels. Was going to go that route but wanted to save some potential cleaning hassles. Find it much of a pain to keep em clean?
