I would pull the drain plug on the bottom of the case to check before going back into the motor. Save yourself some work. My understanding of sumping is not that is causes low pressure, but that the pump doesn't scavenge well causing the oil bag level to go low(er). I may be wrong, though. It would rob horsepower, but I'm not sure it would cause sputtering. Perhaps you have an intake leak?

I did find a thread last night about how to check for sumping. The idea I got from https://www.hdforums.com/forum/engin...que-no-hp.html is that if you are experiencing sumping, oil is being pumped back into the case so the crank is being drowned with too much oil. I may be over-simplifying that concept.
I didn't remove the intake at all so I don't necessarily think it could be an intake leak but I s'pose anything is possibly.

Hey Vic, I haven't been on here much lately. After getting your text I thought I'd come on and check your progress. The bike looks good. Love the pipes!
One thing that has been puzzling me....a few weeks back when I rode to Murrells Inlet for bike week, and sitting in traffic my rear cylinder was so hot it actually burned my leg. I couldn't touch my jeans.
Well, the issue is the same after the cam swap. Extreme heat would be too lean, right?
