Recently fitted a tacho to my 07 Streetbob and went to connect up to pin 3 on the ECU plug like others have done only to realise that since I have a Fuelpak the ECU plug is a Fuelpak plug and all the connectors are used.
I emailed V&H and asked them about it but they advised not to tap into the pin 3 wire as it could stuff everything up.
My next thought was what about the Data Link wire on the speedo, I looked at the wiring diagram for a Lowrider which must have a tacho and except for battery, ignition and accessory the only other wire coming from the tacho is the Data Link one, could this give me a tacho signal on my bike? Any body out there tinkered with this idea?

I installed the Low Rider console & tach on my Street Bob & yes, the data line that goes to the speedo is also connected to the tach. The five wires that connect the tach are wired in parallel with the speedo. Dont know if that data line will work on an after market tach...
Thanks for the help gentlemen, I'm ashamed to say I have a cheap aftermarket tach so I'm hoping that it will still work off the data link wire off the speedo. Thanks for the links JRK, I have the same setup as kpreese except not a Alloy Art mount, my mount is identical but comes from Taiwan as I couldnt get one through Alloy Art. I will give it a try and let others know if it works so if anyone else has a aftermarket they will kknow is this method works.
