Heads are off - took a lot of force to start the head bolts to loosen, ended up using a breaker bar that made it so much easier. One thing I am noticing is all these gaskets leave a mess on the gasket surface - any tips on cleaning all these surfaces?

I used a putty knife/scraper and some red scotchbrite.

As for cleaning the gasket left overs won't the shop that's boring your cylinders take care of that?

Thanks, got the red Scotchbrite. Plastic scraper, or are you just real careful with a metal one?

Well my rocker covers and housings are pretty messy and I need to clean the top of my cylinders to check deck height. AMS should handle the heads though.

Nope. Old Hyde puty knife scraper with rounded corners is pretty darn safe when scrapin aluminum. The corners dig in when usin a new scraper.
