I had my fingers crossed for you, but that seems to be inevitable. Very best of luck sorting things out.

So, you've probably got a few more things to do than I did because of the model. But, its not a bad job.. If your mechanically inclined, keep it simple and you can do it over the weekend.. I'd go ahead and take the tank off and remove the front motor mount to drop the engine down in the frame a bit.. Worked on my Dyna, might work for you.. This will give you plenty of room to work.. At that point, it all comes off pretty easily, make sure you've got a manual though.. I'd highly recomend doing your base gaskets on both cylinders at the same time, just to get it all done.. If you dont intend to re-ring, leave the pistons in the bore when you disassemble it.. Again, keep it simple, its not too bad.. These other guys can help fill you in with all the particulars and recomended parts. I did my top end last year and it was a really easy operation, when compared to a car...

Sorry to hear about the trouble, but I'm sure it will all work out in the end. Keep us posted..

That wasn't from lifters. You don't need to pull the head to do lifters. You do need to pull the head if the valve guide drops out of the head because the exhaust crossover pipe was broken (shattered) under the cover.
