Another idea would be to create another map with some spark retard in critical areas, just for the contingency that you find yourself in an area that only has 87 octane or the gas quality isn't up to expectations.

2) I don't have the unit permanently mounted to the bike, so haven't done any logging yet.
You can plug it in and put it in your pocket or saddlebag. It doesn't need to be permanently mounted.

Google Docs will enable you to view spreadsheets without Excel installed.

Good thoughts, thank you. Of course, being totally new at this, I'm not quite sure of how much "some spark retard" might be, and which are the "critical areas"! I've more study to do first!

Good idea. That'll work OK. Appreciate yours and everyone else's posts on this forum. 200+ pages of stuff, and a lot of really great info.

Open Office, or Libre Office spreadsheets, will work just like Excel.

It cannot tune another bike, but still has some logging/monitoring capabilities. Here's a link to the DJ FAQ page, see the last paragraph...

http://www.dynojet.com/Powervision/p...sion-faqs.aspx

On the other hand, keep it. If you want to change your tune for any reason, or do any mods, you'll wish you did!

You can buy a license for additional bikes from DJ. I understand the cost is $199 each, so even though there will still be a resale value it will be reduced by the amount needed to purchase an additional license.

Really?!?! Is this something new? The PV-2 for my 2011 fatboy will work with a 2012 Dyna, correct? My wife's StreetBob is in serious need of a flash and I haven't had the cash to buy another PV. I would definitely spend 199 to be able to use it on both our bikes.

Yes, you can tune both bikes if you buy another license, but the Dyna may require a different cable to link to the ECM. I would call DJ for details and then report back here if there's any other info we should know. AFAIK this can only be purchased from DJ directly at this time, and I assume the licenses are added by entering a code into the PV.
