Glad it was only a type error. Didn't want to have to miss out on the M8
that said... how difficult would it be to transplant an M8 on a late model (2014) TC?
Not sure how you "hate" a machine; unless it's torturing you. I was all excited about this new M8 until I started reading blogs and looking into it more. To me it looks like Harley just trying to wring more and more out of a 100 year old design V twin engine. Then they advertise it as "smoother" "quieter" etc. and it just seems like HD is losing it's identity and soul. And knowing how it's "corporate nature" to cut corners to increase profit (Korean wheel bearings anyone?) I can only imagine the hidden issues in these new, complex machines.
Using oil to cool exhaust ports is one example of some desperate engineering IMHO. Just my observation. Good luck to all who pay the big bucks to get one and I hope they last forever. Don't think they will but hope they do.
I have a m8 on order because that's what was available for 2017. I get a new bike every year and yes there paid for. So as far as them lasting for ever, that don't matter to me. They only have to last 12 months
17' FLHX 6th gear went out on Interstate I'm a little over 2k miles, barely past first oil change and loving my M8. I'm cruising down the interstate in 6th and all of a sudden the bike started surging rough. At first I thought it was electrical and the engine was intermittently cutting out. Then realized 5th gear was fine but 6th started to rattle and slip and grab so I rode it to HD in 5th at a reduced speed.
Been riding 40 years. Rode about every HD made. No mistreatment just 6th gear is screwed. Anyone else have an issue?
