Default Update on 26's cams

3rd Andrews 26h cams installed. 3-18-09.

Follow up::
Decided to go Andrews 26h, & stay with the Rush slip ons, I like the sound. Looked at D&D but have never heard in person, and BSL's, lose a little TQ down low.
200+ miles & I am pleased with the 26's, they produce good #'s for my riding style, 2200-4000 rpm's (90% of the time two up).
Still over 80#'s TQ at 5.2k rpm's, alot better than the 63#'s the stock motor made.
Over 83#'s of TQ from 2200-5000 rpm's.
Increased 15-20 % TQ and HP over stock engine #'s across the board.

The engine runs better and freer now, 6th doesn't feel like its laboring at 60mph and pulls it easy even two up.
Others say the 26's are done between 4- 4.5k rpm's, the (dyno shows its strong 2-5k rpm's)

For Stage1 and Bolt in Cams there just enough for now and I am satisfied with them.

Ride safe...

UPDATE at 2600 miles since 26h's install.
I'am totally pleased with the cams. the power increase across the board is great.

Where I used to ride mostly at 50-55mph in 5th gear because 6th was laboring to much at anything under 65. I can now ride in 6th at 58+mph easy, we ride mostly two up. Plus she now pulls better at 60mph in 6th than she used to at 50mph in 5th for passing.

As a added bonus the mileage used to be best riding at 50-55mph in 5th (41mpg), if I used 6th it would drop below 40mpg.
Now using 6th gear and running 58-70 on the last 10 tanks I have averaged 43+mpg, and thats even riding 50% in town and 50% County and State roads.
Thats at least 2mpg better, best yet has been 45.8mph. and a good deal of more power..
Just wanted to bump for update.

whats my dyno sheet telling me???
stock internals, all bolt ons.
the tech said by the looks of it I need new plugs and wires. he also commented on how long it took to rev all the way up. it does seem that it takes a while to run out a gear all the way.

I wonder why most of the torque numbers shown here for late model big twins (08 and 09) AFTER adding intake, exhaust, and fuel management, are lower than the stock torque figures on Harley Website.

Indeed, they even seem to be lower than the numbers I have seen for similarly equipped Twin Cam 88B models

I dont get it...

07' Nightrain 2 into 1 V.H. big radius exhaust, Screaming Eagle A.C. and PC111. Custom mapping gave me 94 ft tq and 76 hp on a stock motor.

Harley like all the major manufacturers quotes numbers at the crank under absolute perfect conditions not at the rear wheel wheel under what may be less than ideal conditions on Dyno machines with olots of varience.

Hence...The lower numbers!

Thats a funky looking dyno line jumping all around like that but the fact is that a Evo is gonna make about 60HP and 70-80TQ jetted correctly with stage 1 bolt on stuff. You are right there . Take his advice and toss in some new plugs and wires. But you are making what you should be making!

You would need compression, cams and headwork to get that EVO up into the 80HP 90TQ range.

Heres a good sampling of what kinda power Evo's make with a listing of the mods performed:http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/hplist_evo80.htm

I love me some Evo's. Great motor. Great sound. One cam. Easy to jet the carb, anyone can fix one.....Life is good in Evo town. Live it up!!!

thanks for the link. I did replace the plugs and wires and it seems to run soother. the old plugs I pulled out were gapped too much. .043 and .045. I just went for the middle of the range and went .040
