Crossbones Gas cap leak

After every fill up when I stand up my bike a good amount of gas runs out all over the tank. After I get going I can lean the bike over in a turn and no leak.

Anyway this happen to anyone, am I filling it up to much or do I have a bad seal? Any suggestions?

2 things you can do.
Put in less gas.
Sit on your bike so it's level when you fill up.

Also I have read some post of people not getting it closed all the way, even though the cap clicks. Try pressing down real good while you turn it.

happens to me when i fill up to full on the fat bob as well.. just put in a little less.

Don't put less, just put some *** into closing it like sgt sportster said. I have to do the same thing or gas is everywhere.

My Fat Boy Lo cap will leak too when I fill it up. Even after it clicks. Will try applying more pressure when screwing. (That's what she said)

Muscle the gas cap downward as you turn it. Otherwise it does not seal properly and you get the leaks. Also, don't fill the tank up to the bottom of the neck but just below it. Otherwise when you stand that puppy upright the gas level comes up above the neck.

I turn my cap until it clicks, slap the top of it, then it will turn about another 1/4 turn. You can also try taking the gasket off and turning it over. New gaskets can also be bought for a few bucks. Don't know why Harley can't build a good gas cap. Never had anything like this happen with my Kaws.
