Whats up fellas? Info about about my ride, I have a 09 Night Train, with an otherwise stock, except for v&h big radius pipes, hypercharger, and a map download from HD. Im looking for a good cam choice from you experienced guys. I love torque and have never had my 96 close to the rev limiter, a lil more horsepower would be sweet for the 96 right now as well, but tq is what I enjoy. I do plan to go for more cubic inches but later on when my pocket permits. So what do you guys recommend? I dont do any two up riding either. Thank you guys in advance. This has been a topic I searched for, but never found any opinions based on my riding style..
if your looking at cams the first thing i would recomend is an adjustable fuel tuner. that download is for stock bikes with h.d slip ons and breather. you start getting into the motor and it isnt gonna cut it.
I like my SE255's. It's a great cam for low end torque, and I know a handful of guys that put that into a 96" and went to the HD103 download and the bikes run great, although I will agree that a tuner is the best way to go and if you add some inches later, it will save you in the long run. I think Woods has a similar cam that should be just as good or better, but I'm sure a few other can chime in about that one. It's really a matter of opinion, just do your homework...
I have been looking at the woods triple nickel, I believe it is the TW-555. I will prob upgrade to the 103 or 110 in the future, but it isn't gonna happen soon. I have heard good things about that cam I mentioned.. My plans are good tourqey cams right now, I have never seen the rev limiter as I said before, nor do I think I'll intend to do so. I mean even with high speeds on the freeway I have only hit 90 mph a few times.. I really want torque and a lopey lopey idle.. On the debate of the tuner, thats a great point, I am looking for a tuner that offers customization of all factors, and have great expandibility.. I appreciate all of you and your comments, believe me it has really learned me a thing or two and I appreciate all criticism.. I know it may seem like these posts are sometimes a pain as I can imagine you've heard it before, but I'm fairly new to HD and switching from metric cruisers and sportbikes. So far I love my bike, I see now why you all love Harleys..
Check out Fuel Motto's site man. They got some numbers posted from diff dynos and I'm pretty sure it'll tell ya everything you wanna know. Tuner, cam, motor build etc. Everyone I know who's delt with em has good stuff to say also.
Thanks alot fellas, youve definetly made my decision way easier.. I also gained some very well needed info or learning so to speak.. Thanks everyone again..
