Hey, a CBF!!!!!
Been following this thread for a while. While it's not what I would build, I give you one "hell yeah" for daring to be different, and BUILDING what you wanted. Don't pay attention to people like evolution. If it didn't come out of a box with instructions, he doesn't know what to do with it.
Man this thing sounds bad *** with the baffles out!!!!
Several guys have advised there will be a big power loss if I run her like this though, so back in with the baffles. Just wanted to hear it!!!
Power is a combination of intake (air cleaner, usually), fuel (carb/FI), and exhaust. Lot of loud, poor running Harleys out there because so many folks just throw on a set of loud pipes, don't do any thing about fuel. I bought an 883 sporty a few years back with the baffles cut out, still had the factory plug over the mix screw on the carb. Popped and farted pretty bad; put a size up jet in it and adjusted the mix screw, ran smooth enough, but they really bark with no baffles, finally got a pair of stock takeoffs - was surprised at how much more mid range it had. Didn't need to go back to the stock jet either, factory jetting is pretty lean, mix adjust was enough.
