Where I live modifying the brake system by removing the stock ABS would void the permission to operate the bike at all and with it the insurance coverage. If you did and were involved in an accident you would be stuck at least with you own damage. If you caused the accident you will be held liable for all costs and injuries.

I left Stuttgart JUST as they were starting to clamp down hard on exhaust modifications in 2007.

Yep, it can be a PITA sometimes. BUT there are ways to make things possible. In the end it's just a matter of how much dough you're willing to spend to buy the yet allowed fun parts.

Default Air Ride

So I'm sick of crushing my spine on my lowered BO and am ready to take the plunge on air. I've got good quotes on Shotgun and Legends. I've read a ton of "reviews" few of them on Breakouts though.

So which is ideal? I like the amount of adjustability with the Shotgun, but it almost seems like it would be problematic getting the settings consistant. Also worried about the switch placement with Shotgun. Almost no reviews though for Legend on a Breakout. Which could be a good thing though.

So where should my business go?

I've had the Legend air-ride system on my Breakout for 2 1/2 years now, and love it!! NO complaints, the ride is great, it airs up very quickly, and the handle bar controls blend right in, especially on my black bars. I considered Shotgun before getting the Legend, but when I searched, I found a ton of info here, and other forums, from people having different problems with the SS, which scared me away!....Legends Jesse Jurrens was the first to put an air suspension system in a Harley Softail, and that was back in 1998!! That's a long time, and if you search, you'll find VERY little relating to problems with the Legend system!! It also has the lifetime warranty...

Thank for the info Rocker. I gotta say I like the fact that Shotgun has a presence on the forum and loyal followers, but also a lot of stories of great customer service after failures, which means failures. Did you do the install yourself?

....and I'm happy with my SS. Rides great, no problems at all.

The switches are practically invisible....mounted right next to the bikes ignition switch. If I didn't tell you where they were, you'd never know they were there.

Yes, the install is a snap, it only took about an hour +/-...and I should have mentioned that the black handle bar controls come with the Legend system, but they also have optional, chrome controls as well....
