2014 Breakout Ignition Switch
OK, how'd you fix it? Before taking off this morning, I discovered that the lever on my bike's ignition switch was sliding off. I tightened up the set screw and took off ... without checking to see if I could still lock the ignition. Well, I got to where I was going and then I discovered that I could not lock the ignition any more.
So I get back home and even with the stupid lever off the switch I can't lock the damn ignition.
I think I might've f'd the switch up completely.
I couldn't fix the switch that I messed up. I had to replace it.
Really cranking down on that little set screw crushes something inside the switch ... jams it up real good, lol
All this is considering you have a FOB unit on your bike. It would get rid of the fugly grenade too.
This is crap. I started riding HD's at age 10, 60 this year. A lot has changed but then again....little has changed.
Anyone found a fix outside of replacing entire switch? Don't have the security system. Any help appreciated.

I was having the same stiff/unusable lock problem. Any amount of pressure that was enough to keep the **** intact was making the lock unusable it worked with no pressure, but was still a little stiff. But it worked.
What I did was a drilled a 5/16" hole perpendicular to the existing threaded hole as well as a little dimple on the outside of the barrel in that location. Then I tapped the hole with an M5 x 0.8 and relocation the set screw there. To my surprise, after tightening down the set screw, the lock freed up. So the added benefit was truing up the barrel roundness.
To get the dimple until the barrel, so the screw has a place to locate, I installed the **** back on as normal after I had drilled the new hole, but before I tapped it. I then use the hole a drill guide/jig to position the dimple perfectly. The importance of doing the dimple first is to ensure you don't destroy your newly tapped threads.
Of course, to finish it off, blue Loctite on the threads.
I hope this helps someone else with the same problem.
