Hay guys last summer I put new mirrors on my Sportster and they where good for a while but now they move and I can't get them tight enough to stop if I thightin them up it pinches the brake lever housing and the brakes lever gets pinched and gets stuck how can I stop them from move when I go past 50 the wind pushes them straight back wtf
Got any pics, so we can see what you're dealing with? I'd try putting some rubber and/or lock washers on the stems & see if that's enough to get them to stop,,,or, drive under 50 mph.
My left mirror used to moved around a lot from the adjustment point (not the base). Texas only requires one mirror so I removed it and never looked back. No pun intended.
when I added some of the HD 'buckshot' mirrors, they came with
some 'star' type washers. I wouldn't really call them a lockwasher,
but they do help prevent movement. Might check if you have
some of those. Perhaps they fell off in the bag & didn't get installed...
Further to my previous post this is what the handlebar mounting looks like on my bike.
I cannot see how tightening up the mirror can squeeze the brake lever as it is a solid casting.
I had the same issue on a bike. Since I'm the only one that ever rode that bike (my wife does ride some of my others occasionally, but didn't like the Softail with apes) I simply lock tight'ed the damn things. Didn't move again, and there was still enough movement in the ball joint on the back, to adjust a bit. Use blue, so you can get em off if you want to later.
