Just wondering if anyone knows a way to lock the lids on the Road King Customs leather bags. Someone mentioned H-D had a lock kit, I can't find it in the catalog and he didn't leave a part#.
I used to have a Heritage Classic. I had www.Bossbags.comdo thier saddlebag kit and I had them install their locks. They do good work.
When I gotmy road king Custom I put the Harley lock kit on and felt about the same as Heartpumper. I called Bossbags and they put the same locks on my bags for $60.00 with locks. This is not a do it yourself kit, you have to send them your bags. They did mine with a 2 day turn around.
If you go to their website, they have a lot of pictures of the job the do. They only show the bags for the Heritage, but I called them and they did mine. (they also said that they do a lot of custom jobs too.)I feel more secure now that my bags are secured when I am in my Hotel room.I could post some pictures if you're interested. I am not affiliated with Bossbags either...
I have the lock kit on my rk custom bags. It works like it is suppose to. It does make the push button (silver, on front of bag, between the bag and the fender) inoperable, but that is a small sacrifice for the sense of security. Sure, any good thief can still steal your bag, but being able to lock it up is a little peace of mind, IMO. Easy install, and yes, it is kind of a pain to lock and unlock it, but still worth every dime, for me. I am very happy with it. BTW, make sure you buy it from the dealer so they can have it keyed to match the ignition lock. It's nice to have one key for everything, IMO.
