Default Fork Baffle screws?

Ordered the black fork baffle for my E. Glide but it didn't come with any screws. The HD parts guys said I need a special self tapping screw but when I look at the bike the holes are already tapped. Does anyone know what size and type of screws/bolts I need?

1/4-20x5/8. Run a tap through the existing holes to clean the powdercoat junk off the threads of the holes. They have chrome ones that come with the chrome baffle that you could use unless you want black ones. Those are 94385-92T from HD.

Clean out the holes with a tap, if your not using self tapping ones you will bust off or strip your bolts for sure.

a thread chaser would be better, remove less metal perhaps and clean the threads farther down the hole

Or you can simply take a standard bolt of the correct size, put it in a vice and use a hack saw to create two grooves in the threads...you know, make it look like a self taping bolt or screw.

Works like a champ when you don't have access to a tap.

This is what I did (except I used a dremel tool to make wide/deep grooves). You only need to cut the 2 or 3 threads at the tip.
