What are the main differences between exhausts? True Duel, 2 into 1 and the X style? Are there performance pros and cons, is it just for looks and sound? I want to get a new exhaust for mine but am not sure what to go with. I want something that will give me the best performance and am not so worried with sound. Thanks for any help and suggestions.
To start with, your stock exhaust system has catalytic converters in the header pipes. this can be a bottleneck to performance.
Previous stock headers without the cats were fine for performance on lightly modified motors with hi flow "slip on" mufflers
true dual, separate exhaust system for each cylinder- not the best for performance
2 into one; 2 header pipes of equal length into one muffler look at Supertrapp or Thunderheader some of the best torque and horsepower results come with these systems.
"X" pipe, similar to the stock system ( no cat), with an X shaped connector near the transmission cover ( my Pal has one of these on his 1" lowered Ultra, the heat shield over the X grounds out on right hand turns, the torco clamp underneath hits speed bumps).
For looks and sound, go to local bike events and see what appeals to your eye and ears.
For performance- take your time to do some research...keep in mind that you may want to leave your bike stock during the warranty period. making changes may void your warranty

If you haven't seen and heard my video, please click below. I have Vance and Hines Dresser duals (true duals) and V&H Monster Rounds for mufflers.
V&H makes beautiful pipes and mufflers with perfect chrome and heavy heat shields. This is a complete replacement for the stock exhaust.
If there is a loss of power, you gain it back with a stage 1 air cleaner and tune. I have a TTS tuner and a canned map.

The factory warranty covers OEM parts and Harley parts added to the bike at the time of purchase. It does NOT cover aftermarket parts or damage to Harley parts caused by aftermarket parts.
If you go with a set Of Slip-Ons like the V&H Monster Rounds which if you listen to the Video above this is EXCELLENT , Stock Head Pipe, and A/C you will pick-up alot of HP and TQ , you will get rid of some Heat if not enough you can get a Oil Cooler. But that is what I think I may do to my system? I spoke to a couple of service managers and they both told me to not change the head pipe and stay with the OEM because if you do not you only lose about 3 HP and some TQ and for what you spend and change on your bike it is not worth it? I think I may follow there advice ? It sounds like the thing to do?
from what i have been told and reading a lot on here if you want performance you need to go with a 2-1 as stated above. Me personally I love the true duals for looks and sound, but then again I am not in it for performance per-say.
From what I’ve read: 2 into 1 is the best power upgrade V&Hs Power Duels (the one in my sig) next best power upgrade True Duels no significance power gain or loss
Anything will help you, here is what your head pipe looks like cut in half
because all 2010 and newer Touring bikes has a Catalytic Converter in the head pipe.
