HD Premium rear shocks, Progressive Monotubes up front, new Metzelers.
Still have an uneasy rear-steer feeling in 75+MPH sweepers (not a front end handlebar wobble). Kind of like the Motor Cop video, but not nearly that extreme.
Why have some bikes, mine included, making a number of high speed bad judgement calls over the years never experienced wobble?
There is no easy answer to that. There are several topics that come up regularly here on HDF in which members have different experiences. There may be subtle differences from bike to bike that mean they don't all ride quite the same.
In addition while, say, you can follow another fast rider into a situation where he experiences a wobble and you don't, your vehicle control may be different enough to reduce the effect of it happening. That could be pure chance, or remarkable skill!
Great thread! As I've said before, you are on my "must read" list! Thanks for this one! (No need to add me to the PM list. For me to be able to remember what stabilizer you use you must have mentioned it at least a 1000 times on here!! ) I will be true to your desire not to mention which one, however I will track this thread......
I think I'm up to date with requests and PMs. I've discovered that we have to wait at least one minute from starting a post before we can send it. Presumably a defence against spammers! Also makes sending several PMs a bit long winded!
Don't know if my bike is not doing the wobble or if I just don't notice it I have 46000 on my 07 Ultra and ride fairly aggressively and have never noticed any thing other than like a rolling feel in hard curves that I have felt on lots of my bikes I have always thought was just the way the tires hit the road in a curve , what is this dangerous wobble ?
Be assured that if your bike has ever done it to you the experience will be etched in your memory! No risk of forgetting. Please go back to #1 for an explanation, also note that not every rider experiences it, for reasons that are not entirely clear. Sleep peacefully at night!
Could you add me to your list to PM ? I've experienced a wobble a couple of times on my '10 ultra classic. Riding 2-up 90% of the time, I know that when loaded that having the suspension set up right is mandatory. Having dealt with tank slappers on dirtbikes at speeds between 60-80mph, it's no fun feeling like there is no control.
