That seems strange, as the AJJ could be used for any audio to be input. I suspect that's maybe a choice (i.e. disabling the onboard GPS) made in the Digital Technician setup that enables the AJJ, and isn't essential.
Techs told me it wasn't a choice - may H-D doesn't want riders making real time comparisons <LOL>

Did this happen to you (losing the 6.5 GPS) or just something you were told? There's been several discussions on the jumper and this is the first I'm reading about it disabling the gps...

It indeed has happened to me - what I get on the display if I choose navi is a compass rose indicating direction of travel.
edit: bike's in the shop having the infodeck replaced, or I'd take a pic and post it.

Thanks for the reply, I'm trying to understand, is the losing the 6.5 GPS the reason you're getting the deck replaced or is the losing of the GPS an inherent problem when installing the aux. port? If I install the APP will I also lose the ability to use my 6.5 GPS? I have not heard of this happening to anyone else and I have been monitoring the threads as I want to have an APP installed. Thanks again...
Reason for deck replacement, posted in the Rushmore section "My Boombox Freezes" thread:

The delay in resetting is likely not due to capacitors discharging, most likely due to the CANBUS which keeps the system energized for 30-60 seconds after IGN shutdown. You have to wait to reset until it's finished.
I'm convinced the freezes are due to bad firmware (mine's updated and this still happens) - the auto industry designer low-bidder choice has no experience with anything as complex with add-on modules for Sirius/XM, CB & intercom and it overloaded their design engineers, not the hardware (though that is woefully under-powered, as well).
I pick the bike up on Wednesday - they had to overnight a new deck, shop is closed on Mondays - so I'll pick the team's collective brain while I'm there. As they say, they're learning with me...

Are you 100% sure the tech working on your bike is right? Those guys haven't exactly had very good support from the Mothership & they may not have ALL the info needed to make it work as it should?
The 6.5 Navigation can be turned on or off using Digital Tech. It if is turned off the compass will appear
That'll be the "Use External GPS" option. The question though, is if that HAS to be selected when enabling the audio input that the AJJ connects to....
