Yup, I was bearing that in mind.

Have you tested the SENA with the bike ?
It says in the Boom Audio manual that voice control won't work over Bluetooth.
But, if paired to GPS and phone at the same time it might work for hearing phone or audio and GPS instructions. ( ? )

I don't want to be the guinea pig on this.
Please post results of testing with the Boom Audio.

A reply came in from Harman Industries saying they cannot help me because HD has no case file on my issues, that I am supposed to go up the chain via dealership first. So .. starting over right after Thanksgiving since I won't have my laptop all this week.
At least it verifies that Harman Industries built the Boom Audio for HD.

The SENA BT systems are using BT3. The 6.5 system uses HFP (for phone) or A2DP (for music). These BT modes are not compatible.

Additionally, the 6.5 system, while capable of pairing with multiple BT devices, can only be actively paired to 1 device at a time. Note, however, that if your BT device supports both HFP & A2DP modes, during the pairing setup, both can be selected (supported phones can be used both as a phone & as a music source).

Not sure that's my experience, Hammz - Garmin Zumo paired as the music (and GPS instructions) source and a phone concurrently paired as the phone source. Both worked! Or am I misunderstanding your post?

Anybody tried it ?
I am trying to find an intercom solution for the Street Glide Special which has no intercom wiring. The only harness available is rider only. Go figure .....
So .. they want me to upgrade to an Ultra to get rider to passenger communications ?
Are you sure? I have not seen this stated in the P&A catalog, nor is it described as possible in the Boom owner manual or the online tutorials. Please provide reference if possible & I'll help chase this option. Thanks.

I did a bit of investigating. Here's what I found: The fairing models w/o a TP have a 6-way connector for 162, while fairing models w/TP have a 16-way connector for 162 (rear audio connector). Radios, however, are the same (both have the same outputs). The functions needed for a passenger headset are routed to the "sealed" 12-way P&A Audio connector in the fairing above the radio. This is probably where the P&A rider headset wiring gets plugged in.

That said, while there currently isn't a P&A harness available for a passenger headset, there is a possibility one of the aftermarket audio suppliers (hey John, what about this?) may build a such a harness if there's a market for it, or you could build your own? Biggest issue will probably be addressing the replication of the (missing) passenger switchgear (volume up & down, PTT) that is recognized by the BCM (Canbus). I think the bike could be reflashed to activate the intercom once hardware is available?

Note - These comments are just me thinking aloud. I may be completely off base...

Acording to this spec page from Sena it should work
Bluetooth
Profile: Headset Profile, Hands-Free Profile (HFP), Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), Audio Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)
Bluetooth 3.0

Really?!!! Good to know!!! I know it does use both protocols & you can select either or both when setting up pairing. I set my Galaxy S4 for both, so that must be why I can only actively pair with 1 device (used both protocols on that device, hence nothing else would actively pair once my S4 paired). Thanks for the input!

The microphone may work (HFP)? I understood A2DP only works in one direction? I believe the A2DP on the 6.5 is set up to receive data, not send data? I could be wrong about this, haven't done a lot of detailed research to verify...

Still, for those on the FLHX & FLHXS, having a BT mike will allow them to use the voice commands, even if they can't use the headset speakers?

Seems there's a bunch of HDF users that are contributing pieces to solving this puzzle, even though none of us seems to have all the issues figured out.

Good input!
