2014 Infotainment issues Part 2.
KS6C - Dan, I put 100,000 miles on the 2012 CVO. The dealer here offered my bike plus $3600 for the new 2014 limited. I asked why he wasn't writing it up already? BTW the AVC has to be set at 4 bars before you really notice it, but the volume does increase with speed. It's not as pronounced as the old HK radios were.
Give them a call if you are interested, they do a huge amount of mail order business...Ask for Diana or Kevin, the owners...Excellent place to do business with - very knowledgeable...
If you're handy with electronics, you can make up a Bluetooth 'adapter' that'll do what you want. You'll need a combination BT transmitter, and receiver (the transmitter to 'hear', the receiver to 'talk'). It'll need to plug into the bike's head-set connector (7-pin female DIN plug). The plug pin-outs are available online.
I did the 'headset' part so I can listen to the stereo with my BT equipped helmet. But there seems no reason the 'talk' part won't work, too. Miccus, who manufacture the transmitter I bought, also make a receiver of similar size.
I bought a 7-pin DIN male connector, a 1/8" female socket, and put the two together. I got a Miccus Bluetooth transmitter, and plug it into the 1/8" connector. I plug the other end of the adapter into the bike's head-set connector.
You can place the BT transmitter/receiver elsewhere (than on the end of the DIN plug), e.g., on the handlebars, and run a cord from the connector to the tx/rx. You could also do a 90* adapter, and have the tx/rx run parallel to the top of the tank versus being vertical. Certainly, mounting the tx/rx unit(s) in an out-of-the-way place on the bike, and running a cord to them from the head-set connector, would be 'prettier' than what I've done.
Note: I've got a Street Glide, and the kit to add the headset connector is around 70 bucks, from HD. It plugs into the radio on one end, and is attached to the tank on the other…as shown.
I don't know what a pre-made adapter costs. Certainly, in terms of pure money, something you fashion yourself is probably going to be less expensive in $. In terms of time…store-bought is always going to be the way to go.

I keep thinking someone will come up with a little plug that solves this problem, just plug it in and go. I haven't seen the pinouts for the DIN connector, be nice to get something that draws power from there so it wouldn't need recharging. Heck, I'd pay $$$ for a plug-and-play solution like that.
<rant> Of course the ultimate would be a SW upgrade for the unit itself that would talk to headsets LIKE EVERYONE ELSE IN THE F'IN WORLD.... HARLEY, YOU LISTENING?
</rant>
Thanks Alan, that's a good idea.
I tried again today. The Zumo 660 pairs fine to the bike, however, I get no audio. I also have an iPhone which has been paired to both the Zumo and the Bike. I turned off the iPhone bluetooth, then tried it with the phone on... while on the bike I selected "bluetooth Devices" and selected only the Zumo... I still have no audio from the Zumo. I tried it thru the plug in headset, and thru the bikes speakers, have no results....Any suggestions will be appreciated....

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
-AVC does not work
-Motorcycle Icon does not stay selected(least of my worries, but it should work)
-After getting new iPhone and connecting USB, system goes to Indexing loop and will not work using USB, plus it causes the Favs to not work as well. Oh, USB works great if I connect the old phone....sometimes, and then sometimes I get the "Playback Stopped" message and music will no longer play.
-There are a few other minor issues I have found playing with other settings.
I have re-installed several times. I have looked for a Set to Factory Default option, which should remove all of my user configured information.
Being a computer technician, I have already tried everything the local service techs recommend.
Still love the bike, but hoping HD will provide a newer download soon to correct some of these issues.
