Is the front the 150 radial?

If so, would you please measure the width of the mounted tire at its widest point?

Thanks!

Met a chap called Jim at Reading Harley Bike night last night, who has put Avon Cobra 200’s on the back and says it made a massive difference to handling.

I also met ADM however briefly and had a chance to check out some of his mods.

hmm did he put a wider wheel on the bike? Maybe I’m wrong but 200 on a 5” wheel seems a bit much.

I would say not. The cost he told me to do both front and rear wouldn’t cover a new wheel.

Excellent. Certainly night and day better than the stock tyres. There may be tyres out there that are better in the wet, but the Avons are very capable indeed.

I have ridden Cobras down the scary side of the Fluela pass in torrential rain and they never lost a beat!

Hey Adam,

It was nice to meet you - and sorry I had to rush off as I would have liked to have chatted longer. But as you saw.....the group was going to the pub!

I'll see you again!

The 200 will fit just fine on the stock rim. I had one on my old Fat Bob and it was great. I did decide to stick with a 180 on the current bike however as I am very happy with the handling and didn't want to sacrifice any of it for looks this time around.

Either the 180 or the 200 will work well though....

I actually don't seem to be able to determine whether the front is radial or bias ply. It doesn't say anywhere on the tyre and I can't find anything detailing it on Avon's web site. I would expect it's a bias ply tyre as it's quite high profile and radials seem more suited for low profile tyres. But I honestly don't know for sure. It seems that some Cobras are radial and some are bias. They all work very well though.

As for the width of the tyre, it is 5.75" or 146mm at the widest point with the bike unladen - so probably about exactly 150mm with me sitting on it!

I want to get these for my next set of tires but I want to make sure I get the same ones as you have. (Part numbers for both front and rear would be greatly appreciated! Or maybe a UPC code or something?)

PS - Do the sidewall designs match front and rear? I know it isn't super important but I do like the look of matched sidewall patterns.
