Ok...needed a bag that I could put my PT uniform, my ACU's, pair of boots and my running shoes. Tryin to do this on the cheap so this is what I came up with. Took the case for my Army issue gortex sleeping bag...got ahold of a 12" galvanized steel elbow, then straighten elbow out and slip into the bag. Width is right and height is just about perfect! Now...need to figure out how to keep it from rusting....better break out the CLP now and then...or the Hoppes....any other suggestions to keep it rust free?? Besides buy a bag....like I said just tryin to be cheap!!

Just hit it with a spritz of rustoleum first! U should seriously consider showing these pictures to CIF when you turn the fart sack in! LOL
So I decided i was sick of looking at all of the silver bolts and screws on my engine, primary and trans...and bolt toppers are almost $150 a set. So I invested in a $4.99, soft, flat bristled arts and crafts brush and a can of semi-flat rustoleum. Spray a bit into the cap from the can, dip the brush and paint away! (steady hand is a must) looks killer and seems to hold up to the heat Like a champ, even after 45 minutes of stop and go in 93 degree heat. Pics available if ur interested.

Not sure how big that sack is (dimeter and height), but have you considered using an old plastic bucket?
You can cut or grind off the handle and any parts that sticks out or up too far, it will never rust and if its got a smooth edge it won't cut the bag up on you. Drag it (or yours for that matter) on the ground however and all bets are off.
You can even use a bucket that's too big if you cut off the bottom, slice it up the side and reroll it to fit inside. Then just let it spring back out and it will hold the bag open for you.
Yeah I thought bout usin a bucket after I used the 12" elbow. The diameter for the bag is right at 12" but these bags can be tightened around the sides...meaning that a 10" or 8" elbow would work. I also looked for a PVC coupling in that size or something else like that. This bag definitly would not work for rough riding....just something I kinda like cause I'm cheap LMAO!!

show us those pics...
Model paint is enamel based so I can't see why it wouldn't work.
You just need to degrease anything you want to paint first, or nothing is going to stick for very long.
Yea, where's the pic's, and BTW we like before and after shots thank you very much.
