Next time I ride the twisties we shall see if the brackets taht mount them to the floorboards scrape a lot. The left bracket was quite scraped up under the floorboard already.

These are what I'm looking for, thanks, was wondering how to find them....

Not much of a mod, but for those of you with crashbars, you might find as I did, turning them INWARD lets you sort of wrap your legs around the motor, and I find it really comfy, and a bit warmer in winter. Plus you don't look like you're having a baby...

Default Plasti-Dip Shock Bolt Covers

I'll edit with a pic in a little while.

The Street Bob, regardless of color or black package, comes with chrome shock bolt covers. Harley sells black covers for $40.

I just sprayed mine with Plasti-Dip this afternoon. They look great and I still have most of the $9 can left for other projects. It took longer to dry than it did to remove and replace the covers.

Default Slim license plate relocation

I have a '13 Softail Slim. It comes stock with a side-mount license plate bracket. I installed the turn signal relocation kit so I could add a standard height passenger backrest. I was supposed to relocate the plate to the rear of the fender, but I like the side-mount location. SO what I did was to move it to the belt guard using an elevator bolt, flat washer, and a "stover" style nut. Granted, I already have every DIY'ers favorite tool - a UniBit, to drill the holes, so you'll have to factor in that cost unless you want to switch out for progressively larger drill bits.

Here's the before/stock-ish location:

After relocation:

Pics of the elevator bolt installed in belt guard:

And finally, a shot showing the spacing from the swingarm bag:

I'm sure you could buy a Slim bracket from the stealer for a non-Slim application, but it wouldn't be cheap - which is what this thread is all about.

On Edit: I can't recommend this mod due to the excessive Vibration in the belt guard.
The offset plate acts like a pendulum & would probably break the belt guard eventually.
I'm switching to a horizontal axle mounted plate bracket from Road 6 Customs.

Nice winter configuration. Got a bud that has two highway pegs, one inward like pictured and another set out the traditional way. He does a lot of long hauls, gives him choices.

Default $5 Heritage saddle bag repair

Here is a quick and easy saddle bag repair made it with 5/16 smooth fence post and 1" flat took me less than an hour I will paint them later or not. edit: painted them black now so they look as good as they work.

To give credit where its due my buddy actually made his like this first so I give him credit for it. Although I would have done the exact same design we think very much alike.

I have a right side one for sale with that very trick - except the flat bar runs all around in one piece; no dowel rod.

I ended up with an old dresser in the garage so I decided to put it to some good and store all my helmets, seats, special HD tools, and all the old stock parts. Looked a little out of place, so I bought some krylon and went to work. Whaddayathink?
