Default Seat removal question

Kinda dumb question, I know, but.........

I'm trying to remove the seat on my 50th for a good cleaning underneath (I'm a little **** about a clean bike) and after removing the rear bolt, the seat is stubborn and won't come off.

If I am reading everything correctly, it should just slide to the rear and slip off.....Right?

It won't budge, and I'm hesitant to put a lot of muscle into it unless I KNOW what I'm doing.

Am I missing something somewhere, or should I just give it a good yank?

Unless it has changed since 03, just slide back and up.

Solo or dual seat? If dual, push down slightly in the middle and pull back. If solo, just pull back a little harder. If dual, once it's off, turn it over and you'll know why you pushed down slightly in the middle to remove it.

If it is 04 and up there is something that holds it on from where the seat slips on. Bend it forward from the cack a little bit. Hard to explain here but once you get it off you will see.

Is the sissy bar in the way of you pulling it back??? mine is a little tough to get off because the sissy bar wont let it come all the way off the tab. I have to pull back on the front tip of the seat and get seat to flex and then pull up to keep the tab from popping back into place

Yes, it's a dual seat.

The sissy bar is not on the bike at this time, so that isn't a factor.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going back out in the shop and push down in the center, and tug at it some more.

Does it have one of them'there stap dealeeoo's over the seat? If so, gotta remove second bolt of it will not slide back. Best of luck.

Also, I hear ya about cleaning it. Absolutely amazing how much dust gets under the seat. I personally would rather not "dry-sand" the top of my fender with the two-up seat on.[:@]

The stock seat on my 2007 883R can be a struggle to get off each time & yet the sundowner slips off wth no problems, go figure.

FWIW.....after removing the bolt from the rear of the seat (fender)....the seat has to be pushed FORWARD to get it loose. There's a bracket that has the passenger grab strap hooked to either end, and it is latched in FRONT of a stud on the frame.

Leave it to me to have something weird........
