windshield - can it take a rock?
Seeing how windshield threads are very popular here, leads me to wonder about materials.
I use a H-D Lexan windshield which I bought for $15 ( from an "upgrading" rider), then cut down a couple of inches.
This thing took at apple-sized rock at highway speed that would have broken my face. I can see a mark where it hit but that is it.
My question for other riders is what other materials are being used, how durable are they?
Can your aftermarket windshield take a hit ?

I bought an aftermarket windshield from Memphis Shades which is, if anything, even more burly than my stock H-D windshield. The things a tank.
This is the one I bought (Memphis Fats for RKC):

I was in the right lane to prepare for my exit off I-55 one afternoon. I eased along an 18 wheeler on my left at 75 mph. When suddenly his rear trailer tire blew out. I took a chunk of tire across the stock windshield on my UC and another I think hit my engine crash bar. I don't know how big the chunks were as I dove to the gas tank and headed to the wide shoulder of the road. Can you say flash bang grenade? I don't know how I kept from losing it because I actually felt the blast of air from the tire. I was that close to it. A little bug cleaner and the black marks were gone. But I always think about that tire when I pass a semi now.
